A dedicated project presenting the work of the “Our Time to Speak” initiative through a curated collection of articles, podcasts, videos, panel discussions, and key project insights. It provides one central space to explore the initiative’s themes, perspectives, and contributions.
The “Our Time to Speak” initiative was launched to help rebuild the relationship between local communities in South Lebanon, the Bekaa, and Beirut’s southern suburbs and the state and its institutions. It focused on three main pillars: the social contract and citizenship, financial and economic recovery, and reconstruction.
The initiative worked with a diverse group of writers, intellectuals, journalists, educators, and political activists. It also partnered with independent media platforms, most notably Daraj and Manateq Net, and collaborated with cultural clubs from Jabal Amel.
Through articles, interviews, and public discussions, the initiative created space for voices and perspectives outside the mainstream. It provided a platform for free expression and for presenting national perspectives in a safe, responsible, and constructive way.
As events developed, the initiative gave greater priority to citizenship and the social contract, exploring how it could be strengthened and how rights and responsibilities could be defined in a fairer and more balanced way.
This work led to the advocacy paper “Voices from Jabal Amel: An Attempt to Move Beyond the Catastrophe,” which included a set of recommendations addressed to the relevant state institutions.
